You are welcome to collect your goods from our warehouse in Chatteris. To arrange this please select “Customer Collection” as your delivery option at checkout. Note that if you organise transportation for the goods, it is done so at your own risk, and we will not entertain claims for damage or breakages.

Once you have completed the checkout process with “Customer Collection” as your delivery option and your order has been received, a member of our customer services team will contact you to arrange a convenient time to collect your goods and provide you with a Collection Note. Please note that customers are not permitted onsite without an appointment and that the warehouse team typically need at least 48 hours to prepare your goods for collection. Collections will be arranged between 9.00am – 3.00pm Monday to Friday and your goods will be released once your driver confirms your Collection Note references.

You can also take advantage of our complimentary warehouse storage for up to two months. If you need us to store your tiles for a longer duration, a small fee may apply.

Transportation of tiles

It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure safe transportation of the tiles. The warehouse reserves the right to refuse to load if the incorrect vehicle is sent to collect. We take no responsibility for any costs incurred. Please ensure the vehicle you use for collection is suitable for fork-lift loading, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in writing. Unless you are informed otherwise, your goods will be packaged on EPAL Euro pallets measuring 800 x 1200 mm and loading will be done by forklift.

Health and Safety

All Drivers must adhere to the following regulations:

• Hi Vis vests must be worn at all times
• Safety shoes must be worn at all times
• No smoking onsite
• All vehicles reversing or turning in the yard must have a banksman to assist them
• Entering and leaving the yard will also require a banksman

Large Format Slabs

Emporio Surfaces are the only online retailer offering large format porcelain slabs for immediate order and delivery. Typical tile stores will offer you a maximum of 100 x 100 cm tiles when they refer to large formats. Our large format slabs start at 150 x 150 cm and go all the way up to 150 x 300 cm. This is over four times larger than typical large formats. At over three metres tall these slabs are extremely heavy (up to 65 kg per slab) and require careful handling and specialist transport services. Large format slabs will not fit on standard pallet delivery vehicles, requiring a Hiab with crane or specialist vehicle with a slab storage facility.

Large Format Slab Collection

The safety of our staff and customers is our primary objective. Your large format slabs will be packaged safely either within a customised crate or an upright specialised A-frame. These ‘A Frames’ are extremely heavy and have dimensions of 312 x 74 x 191(H) cm. A maximum of 50 slabs (25 each side) can be stored on each frame. With the wooden frame itself weighing 220 kg and each individual porcelain slab weighing up to 65 kg, a single ‘A frame’ might weigh over 3000 kg. Health and Safety regulations do not permit any manual handballing or loading of large format slabs.

Due to health and safety regulations, collections of large format slabs from our warehouse are authorised only with “flat-bed” or “drop sided” vehicles, or lorries with at least 7.5 tonne capacity. Please note that collections with standard box vans will be refused on site due to the size and nature of this product.

Handling Large Format Slabs

Large format porcelain slabs are extremely heavy and may have sharp edges. It is therefore necessary to wear protective gloves at all times. For safe handling of large format slabs onsite we highly recommend the use of a specialist tile handling frame with suction cups, such as the Raimondi Easy-Move. These frames help to maintain the integrity of the tile and ensure that operators’ safety is not compromised.
